H2O2 for Seborrheic Keratosis
Seborrheic keratosis is a skin condition which comes about from the abnormal growth of skin cells. The growths that result are normally harmless, but are unsightly because of the fact that they are large and lumpy. The most known character trait of these growths is that they always have an appearance of being waxy and stuck onto the skin. This has misled many into believing that these brown growths can easily be removed. However, these growths cannot simply be removed by pulling and picking them. These growths vary in color as some of them look pale while others are dark in color. It is normal for them to appear in clusters though you can find the occasional single one here or there. These growths are not associated with pain in any way.
You can determine if you have seborrheic keratosis by looking at the growths and their characteristics. Most of these growths are scaly, raised and oval shaped. There are instances when it would be important for you to see a doctor. See a doctor when your growths begin to bleed when irritated; grow in great numbers within a short period of time or when they change color. There is no specific cause that is associated with this skin condition.
There are numerous treatments that are available for people suffering from Seborrheic Keratosis but not all of them are easily accessible. However, there is also the option of natural home remedies. The most effective ingredient when it comes to this skin condition is H2O2 which is more commonly known as hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide works by burning off the cells of the growths until only fresh skin is left exposed. This allows new skin cells to grow in its place.
When the hydrogen peroxide is applied, there is a burning sensation that will accompany it. Secondly, the growths will turn pink at first, then white. It is during this time that the growths can be scraped off little by little. This process needs to be repeated for as often as once every week until results can be seen. Because of the nature of hydrogen peroxide and the burning it can cause, it is recommended that the patient apply lotion to the skin surrounding the growths so that it does not get burned in the process. The procedure should not be repeated more than once per week or else it may result in scarring.
