Natural Remedies For Age Spots
Age spots, like poor eyesight, graying hair, decreased mobility and wrinkles, are signs of aging. Age spots are mainly caused by your body’s exposure to the heat of the sun over the years. The more you are exposed to the sun the more your body produces melanocytes. Melanocytes are cells that produce melanin, a dark pigment that turns into age spots.
Although age spots can easily be prevented by using sunscreen whenever you are out in the sun for extended periods of time, like when you are on holiday at the beach. There are various natural remedies that help prevent or remove age spots.
Apple Cider
You can apply a mixture of apple cider vinegar and orange juice on the concerned areas of your skin to remove the age spots. 2 spoonfuls of apple cider and a single spoonful of orange juice will do the trick. Use cotton or a soft cloth to apply the apple cider vinegar mixture on the age spot areas of your face, neck and arms.
Aloe
Aloe is a wonder herb that has many medicinal benefits including the removal of age spots. If you a have an aloe vera plant on your backyard, break off a leaf or stem and squeeze the aloe vera juice and rub it on your age spots. You can also purchase aloe vera gel at your local supermarket or pharmacy. Aloe vera is especially effective in reducing the amount of melanin on your skin, fading age spots in the process. Apply aloe vera on your age spots twice a day for at least two months.
Castor Oil
Castor oil is a common household ingredient that you can use to remove your age spots. Using cotton, rub castor oil on the age spot areas of your skin twice a day for one month.
Lemon Juice
A freshly squeezed lemon juice applied on the age spot areas of your skin will remove the age spots within three months. When using the lemon juice on your skin, avoid being exposed to sunlight as the lemon juice increases your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. The acid in the lemon juice will decrease the amount of melanin in your age spotted skin.
Chickpeas
Purchase a canned chickpeas, mash it and add water until it turns into a thick paste. Apply the chickpeas paste on your skin and allow it to dry. Rinse the dried chickpeas with water.
