Seborrheic Keratosis Home Remedy
Seborrheic keratosis is often confused with moles. In fact, as an SK grows it looks like a mole. It appears as a kind of skin growth. The skin growth occurs like a cancer in that it continues to grow. One thing about this skin condition is that it is also often mistaken to be a wart due to the similarity in their appearance. This skin problem does not occur in everybody. It is actually common on skin of the elderly and is associated with old age, hence its alternative name senile keratosis. Those who are in their twilight of life tend to have it more in comparison with those who are still young. You should always get any new skin growths checked by a doctor but if you are over 60 it is likely that you have a seborrheic keratosis which is a benign skin growth.
How does it appear?
It had been mentioned earlier that the growth of seborrheic keratosis looks like that of a mole. In appearance, it varies in sizes and can range from the size of a penny to larger than a fifty pence piece. It also grows with different kinds of color. One thing about this skin growth called seborrheic keratosis is that it can grow singly or in groups. An SK has a thick, waxy pasted on appearance.
Home remedies
Hydrogen peroxide had been discovered to be an effective seborrheic keratosis home remedy. It should be applied at a concentration of 35%. Before applying the hydrogen peroxide, clean the surface slightly with clean water and pat dry. Apply the hydrogen peroxide directly on the spot of the skin growth and leave for a few minutes until it dries leaving a white residue. On daily basis, apply the hydrogen peroxide to the keratosis. The constant application will dry out the seborrheic keratosis which will break up and fall off.
Glycolic acid solution to the rescue
Glycolic solution too has been found to be very helpful as a home remedy for seborrheic keratosis. After preparation of the solution, it should be applied directly on the spot of the growth just as hydrogen peroxide is applied. This should be done on daily basis until the spot disappears.
Conclusion
The chemical substances mentioned above can be very corrosive, it is never in your best interest to apply them in their concentrated state. Instead, make sure that they are well diluted before you apply them on your seborrheic keratosis. Once you are sure it is an SK you are treating, you can choose your home remedy.
